TriHealth Bethesda Butler Hospital Emergency Department
Hamilton, Ohio

Bethesda Butler Hospital is a community hospital within the TriHealth health care system north of Cincinnati. It is a Magnet hospital and is designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. Bethesda Butler is Hamilton’s leader in excellent patient experience and quality metrics. It received the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ “Most Wired” health care system award in 2023 and the Health Business Council of Ohio’s Worksite Gold Level Distinction was received.
The dedicated team of providers at Bethesda Butler’s 16-bed emergency department delivers care to more than 30,000 patients annually. The ED nurses are leaders in evidence-based practice initiatives that drive clinical change across the service line. Two of these are improving recognition and care of acute ischemic stroke patients with symptoms consistent with large vessel occlusion and the development of a method to provide Naloxone kits to opioid overdose patients who met discharge eligibility criteria. The nursing team strives to ensure clinical quality indicators are met, all while embracing the new challenges that are constantly on the horizon. Bethesda Butler Hospital is honored to have been selected as an Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award recipient in 2018, 2021 and again in 2024.
