The St. Joseph’s University Medical Center ED team developed a Code OB process that encompasses all parties within the ED as well as labor and delivery, NICU, respiratory and the blood bank. It is activated for patients meeting criteria to help ensure that only one call is needed for all the appropriate team members to arrive.
The Staff Wellness Response Team is dedicated to staff well-being in this 88-bed department. The team is activated after critical events to help perform critical incident stress debriefing sessions. It is available for the staff and other parties involved who need assistance. This is completely voluntary to attend, and it has proven valuable in helping staff members cope with the impact of some critical events.
