The Renown Regional Medical Center emergency department serves as the northern Nevada region’s only Level II trauma center. Emphasizing a people-first approach in its commitment to providing exceptional care, the 88-bed department prioritizes ongoing professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration and shared governance in decision-making. Departmental
committees—including Trauma Flow, Triage, Education Peer Support, Enrichment and ED Shared Governance—operate within a framework informed by evidence-based guidelines from the Emergency Nurses Association. Since implementing the Split Flow Model and Rapid Assessment Zone, the department has maintained a left-without-being-seen rate below 1 percent, ensuring both efficiency and effectiveness in its team-oriented care model. At Renown, the trauma nursing education is continuously enhanced via the Trauma-Based Scenario Training and the New Trauma Nurse Orientation Class, to ensure all patients consistently receive the highest level of care.
