Penn Medicine – Penn Presbyterian Medical Center Emergency Department

Penn Presbyterian Medical Center’s 41-bed emergency department provides care to more than 52,000 patients annually. The ED team has implemented several initiatives to improve stretcherside care, increase staff satisfaction and collaborate with the surrounding community. This includes a nurse-driven, multifaceted approach to enhancing the care of patients boarding in the emergency department; a “Quiet Campaign” at night to promote rest and healing for patients; a robust community partnership to offer gun violence prevention strategies; care optimization for patients with substance use disorder; and a comprehensive employee well-being campaign. Penn Presbyterian is a Level I trauma center, Magnet-designated hospital, within the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
