in the emergency department. This nurse-driven collaboration led to the creation of an ED safety committee against workplace violence. The committee consists of nursing staff, nursing leadership, providers, security personnel, and hospital operations. Meeting monthly, the committee collaboratively discusses frontline staff experiences, initiatives and goals for the department. The ED Safety Committee has brought valuable resources to the ED at NYU Langone Health Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services, including a weapons detection system and de-escalation training for nursing staff. This collaboration exemplifies how the emergency department fosters a culture of safety and advocacy for staff.
