The Emergency Department at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health is an expanded and newly built state-of-the-art facility ready to deliver high-quality, compassionate emergency medical care to patients of all ages with a broad spectrum of emergency medical needs. Our department responds to over 76,000 visits annually.

We are certified by the Joint Commission as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center and are equipped to administer immediate medical care to patients experiencing an acute stroke. We have also received the following important designations:

• New York City (NYC) Fire Department of New York (FDNY) 911 Ambulance Receiving Center for adult, pediatric, obstetrical, and behavioral health emergencies
• New York State (NYS) Department of Health and NYC 911 Emergency Cardiac Center and Stroke Center
• NYS Emergency Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Center and maintain a 24-hour on-call cardiac catheterization team

We have been designated as a Pathway to Excellence organization by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. As a department, we continuously strive to deliver excellence in every encounter. We are fortunate to have a team of dedicated, highly motivated, and engaged staff in both leadership and direct care roles. Our physician and provider colleagues are also phenomenal, working collaboratively with us. With these attributes, we sought a venue to highlight our accomplishments, inspire others, and be inspired by similar organizations. We also aim to access educational opportunities and receive updates on the latest trends in emergency care, so we can improve outcomes in every patient encounter.
