The multi-disciplinary triage committee at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital’s emergency department created waiting room care bundles focused on providing a positive experience for patients in the waiting room. After implementing these care bundles, patient rating scores of “likelihood to recommend” increased from 33 to 51.5.
The department also improved charge nurse training, regarding productivity and staffing the unit to maintain financial stewardship. Since implementing productivity worksheets, the department has seen our productivity shift from a negative variance to a positive variance.
