to-understand medication pamphlets, which are now incorporated into the discharge process to provide consistent and clear education to every patient. This solution strengthened discharge teaching, reinforced verbal instructions and empowered patients to better manage their medications at home. The initiative led to measurable improvements in Press Ganey scores for nurse communication and medication understanding, demonstrating how front-line innovation can create meaningful, lasting improvements in the patient experience.

A multidisciplinary initiative led by front-line nurses in the 45-bed ED significantly improved stroke care by streamlining the pathway from patient arrival to CT imaging. Emergency nurses, physicians, radiology staff and leadership collaborated to implement a direct door-to-CT process which allows eligible stroke patients to proceed directly to the CT table upon arrival. Traditional workflows are simultaneously completed at the CT scan table. This coordinated effort reduced median door-to-CT time from 27 minutes to 23 minutes, supporting faster diagnosis and treatment for patients with suspected stroke. The initiative demonstrates the power of interdisciplinary teamwork and front-line innovation to improve clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and the overall patient experience.
