Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham Emergency Department
NGMC Habersham joined the Northeast Georgia Health System in 2023 as an established asset to the rural community, committed to improving the health of its population with several recent clinical- and community-facing initiatives. One project supported by the ED leadership team and staff focused on rapid treatment with detailed restrictions noted during discharge instructions for workers compensation injuries in the community. The staff in the 21-bed department also created a community resource “closet” which includes clean clothes, shoes, car seats, tents, coats and more to help provide for the needs of ED patients.
When an increase in blood culture contaminations raised concerns, the front-line staff partnered with the ED leadership team to focus on education and process improvements to decrease the contamination rate which, in turn, helps decrease length of stay and improves outcomes associated with sepsis patients. Among the metrics that underscore patient satisfaction at NGMC
Habersham is a left-without-being-seen yearly average of 0.2 percent.
