The Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus emergency department’s commitment to delivering high-quality age-sensitive care to older adults through evidence-based practices, education and environmental enhancements that promote safety and dignity for older adults not only led to a Lantern Award, but also Geriatric Emergency Accreditation through ACEP
in January 2025. Additionally, the ED staff is actively involved in community outreach and support efforts that reflect their compassion beyond the bedside. Their contributions to their community include hosting educational sessions and blood pressures screenings at local churches; volunteering at health fairs; providing meals, hygiene kits and haircuts for the homeless; and spreading holiday cheers to nursing home residents. These efforts are entirely staff-driven and highlight the heart and humility behind the emergency department walls.
