staff members to treat patients more efficiently. This project was very successful in increasing productivity and overall flow of the unit, as well as patient outcomes and satisfaction. This allowed the ED to reduce the number of patients who were leaving without being seen from 4 percent to less than 1 percent. This reduction allowed the facility to capture $836,857 in potential revenue that would have been lost otherwise. The department also made an effort to reduce workplace stress and support a healthy lifestyle. When an event occurs that is likely to cause additional workplace stress, department leaders respond to support staff members involved and ensure they have access to and are aware of programs and resources. Department leadership supports ED staff in initiating Code Lilac, a program that aims to ease emotional trauma that could debilitate health care professionals. It provides a structured team approach to support any staff involved in events that could impact their wellbeing.
