Northwell Health Glen Cove Hospital’s Emergency Department is a reputable facility that provides high quality, safe care to our community. Glen Cove Hospital’s Emergency Department treats about 20,000 patients annually. The Emergency Department is a 26-bedded facility with spacious private rooms, a comfortable lounge, and on-site radiology capability. The teamwork within the emergency department, contributes to an eight-minute door to doctor time which gives our patients and their families much ease.
The Glen Cove Hospital’s Emergency Department embraces an interdisciplinary team approach that enables positive outcomes for our patients and contributes to numerous accolades. The Emergency Department, a Joint Commission Designated Primary Stroke Center, collaborates with community partners, EMS, and the inter-hospital team in timely recognition and education of stroke signs and symptoms. This partnership allows for efficient transitions of care amongst healthcare providers. The Glen Cove Hospital Emergency Department is proud to be a Level 1 American College of Emergency Physicians Geriatric Emergency Department. They are 1 of 2 in New York State, and the 19th facility in the nation to be accredited by ACEP. This initiative is integral to the team, and they have committed to serving this patient population with ED team members becoming Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) Certified. Glen Cove Hospital’s Emergency Department takes pride in caring for their community. In 2022, they were awarded ethe Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for the Emergency Department. This prestigious award is given to emergency departments who exhibit patient experience scores greater than the 95th percentile. The Glen Cove Hospital Emergency Department has also been presented the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus with Honor Roll Elite Plus Award, and the Pain & Addiction Care in the ED Accreditation through the American College of Emergency Physicians.
The Glen Cove Hospital’s Emergency Department continues to expand their patient volume, outreach, and research. To be recognized by the Emergency Nurse’s Association with the Lantern Award brings great excitement, and a further commitment to expanding, and innovating as an emergency department team.
