East Alabama Medical Center’s 34-bed emergency department sees approximately 42,000 patient visits per year as a Level III trauma, Levell II primary stroke and sexual assault treatment center.
Two key initiatives within the ED include advocating for vulnerable populations and sustaining a healthy work environment for the team. Applying best practices to protect patients who are vulnerable to sepsis-mortality, the EAMC ED consistently exceeds the top-decile benchmark for perfect sepsis care. Through collaboration with state and national partners, the EAMC ED leads innovative models of care that aim to end the stigma associated with mental health and reduce mortality rates associated with opioid addiction.
