Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital Emergency Department

Cleveland Clinic Tradition Hospital Emergency Department is a 27-bed comprehensive stroke center that provides emergency care to more than 49,000
patients annually, including 5,400 pediatric visits. Over a year’s time, the
department achieved significant improvements in patient experience, evidenced by a 20.4 percent improvement in the likelihood to recommend score.

Through collaborative efforts with shared governance, the team developed
pediatric-inclusive treatment and play areas, enhancing comfort and care for the
youngest patients. Front-line caregivers also spearheaded the implementation of a new Emergency Medical Service arrival process, which streamlined patient intake and enabled faster turnaround for EMS partners to return to the field.

These strategic initiatives have resulted in measurable improvements, including enhanced patient throughput, reduced waiting times, increased operational efficiency, reduction in patients leaving without being seen and, most notably, a 22.7 percent improvement in the Ease of Care metric.
