Children’s Medical Center Plano Emergency Department, a 52-bed Level III trauma ED that served more than 58,000 patient visits in 2025, successfully implemented several initiatives to improve patient care. The department achieved a perfect pediatric readiness score of 100, exceeding national benchmarks and reflecting the team’s exceptional ability to care for children experiencing everything from common illnesses to life-threatening emergencies.

The team improved clinical outcomes by ensuring children with asthma received critical medications faster than ever, consistently surpassing the goal of treating more than 90 percent of eligible patients within target timeframes.

In addition, the department achieved three consecutive months of 100 percent compliance with timely antibiotic administration for patients with sickle cell disease presenting with fever, to help reduce the risk of severe complications and improve patient safety.
