CHI Health Good Samaritan Emergency Department
Good Samaritan Emergency Department is a rural Level II Trauma Center and a regional referral center. Improving throughput for all patients is a primary initiative for the department, where
the goal is to have all patients seen by an emergency nurse within seven minutes. The department exceeded that goal with an average door-to-room time of four minutes. The ED team also ensures providers are engaged in throughput metrics. The providers’ average time of seeing the patient is within four minutes of arrival.
The 11-bed department, which saw nearly 14,000 patient visits in 2025, consistently achieves high patient satisfaction, reflected in Press Ganey scores exceeding the 80th percentile. This achievement, alongside strong throughput, underscores the team’s commitment to providing both efficient and empathetic care and a belief that positive patient experience is paramount. This dual focus ensures patients receive timely attention while feeling respected and well-cared for during their most vulnerable moments.
