Bethesda Arrow Springs is a free-standing Emergency Department (ED) located in Lebanon, Ohio a northern suburb of Cincinnati, and is a part of the TriHealth health care system. Bethesda Arrow Springs ED is a Magnet unit and is designated by the Joint Commission as an Acute Stroke Ready department. The ED is under the umbrella of Bethesda North Hospital, TriHealth in Cincinnati and has been recognized by Health Grades as a 50 best hospital in the United States and has received the most Health Grades Awards in the State of Ohio. The organization has received an “A” for patient safety in the most recent Leapfrog Hospital safety grade. The hospital has also received Joint Commission Gold Seal Certification in hip fracture and thrombectomy capable stroke care.
This free-standing ED saw nearly 20,000 patients in fiscal year 2023. The campus lends itself to resilience as it has a beautiful walking path surrounding a serene lake, an exercise room and a team that describes themselves as a work family! This close-knit group of ED nurses are focused on taking care of each other and the community members that they serve. The ED team prioritizes evidence-based practices including a naloxone distribution program targeting at need patients and improving dysphagia screening for stroke patients. As a free-standing ED, the focus on collaborative learning with all members of the team has enhanced their care of pediatric, trauma and OB patients. These learning strategies are enhanced using high-fidelity simulation mannequins.
