worked to improve throughput in the 56-bed ED that sees approximately 70,900
patients annually.
Door-to-discharge time declined from 193 to 167 minutes between January 2024
and December 2024.
Through collaboration with physicians and a focus on getting patients to a bed
quickly, reducing door-to-bed dropped from 9 minutes to 5 minutes. During 2024,
door-to-provider time was reduced from 23 minutes to 16 minutes. The team also partnered with inpatient nursing and ancillary teams on a monthly basis. Their efforts led to a reduction door-to-departure from 347 minutes in January 2024 to 298 by the year’s end.
