Yolanda Davis, an emergency department nurse at Houston Methodist Deer Park Emergency Care Center, is a proactive problem-solver dedicated to improving clinical workflow and patient outcomes. She understands managing a freestanding emergency department requires incredible coordination under intense time pressure. Davis noticed a delay with the facility’s STEMI transfers and problems, and she worked to improve the STEMI checklist. Her efforts received great feedback from other ECC nurses at Deer Park, and the checklist has since been implemented by another ECC in the system.
Her near-term work will be collaborating with other nurses from the main hospital and two freestanding EDs in the system to develop a disaster workflow plan.
