Council-Chapter Government Affairs Award

Recognizes an ENA Council or Chapter for outstanding efforts to increase member involvement in government affairs and advance public policy supporting nursing, safety, health care and injury prevention issues. The Wisconsin ENA Government Affairs co-chairs have worked hard to grow the state’s government affairs team from the ground up to build relationships with legislators and other organizations throughout the state. The team leveraged one member’s role in the Wisconsin Nurses Association Public Policy Committee to represent emergency nurses throughout the state on a higher level. Wisconsin ENA State Council members were able to meet with every federal legislator’s office and provide materials at Day on the Hill 2024. Committee members also worked to increase ED nurses’ knowledge of legislation and policy that would affect their practice. They presented at state conferences on the process, how legislation impacts nursing, how to get involved and how the audience members could assist the efforts moving forward. Wisconsin ENA is focusing on mentoring and leadership as they relate to government affairs, and building interest in government affairs continues to be a priority of the current chairs.
