Tina Nielsen, MS, RN, APNP, ACNS- BC, CEN

Tina Nielsen is a clinical nurse specialist for emergency services at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Her leadership has resulted in measurable improvements in quality, safety and operational performance, including work to reduce emergency department blood culture contamination that not only improved diagnostic accuracy and patient care but also generated an estimated $632,400 in cost savings.

Through her partnership in the Emergency Department Care Coordination Program, ED visits among high utilizers declined by 42 percent, improving care transitions and connecting patients with the most appropriate resources.

A two-time recipient of the ENA Clinical Nurse Specialist Award, Nielsen is an Evidence-Based Practice Fellowship mentor, and participants in the program have nominated her for a Daisy Mentor Award. She was a co-recipient of the Froedtert Evidence-Based Practice Award in 2025 and 2026.

She coauthored  the chapter on obstetric emergencies in the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum, 8th Edition, as well as papers in the Journal of Emergency Nursing and Annals of Emergency Medicine.

Nielsen is the Wisconsin ENA Council membership chair and regional director for the Southeast Milwaukee ENA Chapter. She served on the ENA Advanced Practice Advisory Board in 2024-2025.
