Nursing Education Award

Recognizes a nurse who has made significant contributions to the education of colleagues, nursing students, EMS personnel, patients, families and/or the community through the publication of articles, formal or informal courses or the development of a specific emergency nursing program or curriculum.
Teri has been a nurse for 25 years with most of her years in emergency nursing. As the emergency department educator, she supported her ED in achieving the ENA Lantern Award by focusing on engaging skills days, professional practice promotion and contributing to staff wellness through the development of a serenity room. Currently, she works in Sentara clinical education, where her primary roles are facilitating the basic arrhythmia and charge nurse programs for all nurses, leading the ED new hire simulation program and supporting the ED nurse practice forum as an educational liaison. Teri has been active in ENA at the chapter and state levels by serving on the board and mentoring subsequent leaders. She is currently the Virginia ENA State Council president and has served as a General Assembly delegate for the last five years. Teri is engaged in her church community, serving on the board as treasurer, audio-visual team member, podcast contributor and Financial Peace University coordinator with her husband.
