Sara Daykin, DNP, MSN, RN, CPEN, TCRN, CNEcl, FAEN

Sara Daykin is recognized for her work to increase pediatric readiness in New Mexico through the Child Ready program and New Mexico Emergency Medical Services for Children. Daykin worked with facilities across the state to support change, and she mentored staff into the role of pediatric emergency care coordinator. She also volunteered for the Child Ready pediatric trauma ECHO, an educational opportunity that has now reached an audience beyond the U.S. with participants from around the globe. Education is offered on a monthly basis providing nursing, EMS and physician CEUs for free, supporting both urban and rural providers so they can remain current and confident when caring for pediatric patients.

Daykin is an assistant professor, director of the Sophomore Entry Nursing Program, and director of education for the ChildReady Program at University of New Mexico College of Nursing. She currently works with ENA to bring its Trauma Nurse Advanced Course to New Mexico. She has been a leader within the New Mexico ENA Council, serving as its president for 2025-2026. She is a former member of the Pediatric Advisory Committee and the Intro to Pediatric Trauma Work Group and currently serves on the ENA Foundation Scholarship Committee.
