Honors a nurse whose career achievements reflect dedicated service, accomplishments and/or contributions to emergency nursing that have value to emergency nursing beyond the recipient’s lifetime.
Sally Snow has dedicated the last 30 years of her career to improving the care of children in the emergency department. Since 2023, she has been project manager for the Texas Pediatric Readiness Improvement Project. Working with the Texas ENA State Council and support from a grant, she recruited 28 emergency nurses to implement pediatric readiness and pediatric simulation in more than 500 events, reaching nearly 4,000 participants in 158 hospitals and improving survivability for ill and injured children.
Snow has been a leader in ENA for decades. She served as secretary/treasurer on the ENA Board of Directors in 2017; the ENA Foundation Board of Trustees from 2018-2022, and as its chairperson in 2021; and as ENA’s liaison to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine from 2006-2019. At the state and local level, Snow was Texas ENA State Council president in 1990 and 2007, is the current North Texas Chapter president and has been a General Assembly delegate more than 30 times.
She has served on committees related to pediatrics and trauma at the local, state and national levels, and chaired ENA’s Position Statement and Awards committees, respectively. She is Texas ENA’s scholarship committee chair.
