Robin Goodman, MSN, CPEN, RN
Recognizes a nurse who has demonstrated outstanding efforts to improve readiness in caring for children in the emergency care setting.
Robin Goodman has been a force in Los Angeles County’s pediatric readiness initiative. Her efforts to recruit facilities to participate in the 2013 pediatric readiness assessment survey helped L.A. County reach a 90 percent response rate. She was a pilot program lead who conducted mock codes to identify clinical care gaps aimed at improving care in 24 hospitals.
In recent years, Goodman was a member of the California Emergency Medical Services for Children’s technical advisory committee, was co-director of the Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics conference and served on the L.A. County Pediatric Readiness Steering Committee.
She was a nurse manager and pediatric liaison nurse in a Los Angeles hospital before taking the position of associate director of the EMSC/EIIC knowledge management domain, where she collaborates on educational modules including suicide, pain, agitation and child abuse.
Goodman is known locally for her popular Pediatric ESI Triage lecture, and she has taught and mentored thousands of nurses, prehospital personnel and community members throughout her career. She is a course director for ENPC and TNCC, a former ENA Pediatric Committee chair, and a contributor to several editions of the ENPC Manual. She earned her MSN from California State University.
