Nurse Leader Award

The Nurse Leader Award recognizes a nurse in an emergency nursing leadership role who has consistently demonstrated excellence in the specialty of emergency nursing and has made significant contributions.

Neko Gilbert, BSN, RN

An emergency nurse and team lead with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Gilbert says she is most proud of developing the next generation of emergency nurses and leaders. Through mentoring, education and leadership at the local, state and national levels, she has encouraged nurses to become involved in ENA, grow professionally and recognize their ability to influence patient care, their colleagues and the future of emergency nursing.  She sees her greatest accomplishments in the way her mentees have become confident nurses and leaders themselves.

Gilbert has been an ENA member since 2018, and since joining she has helped plan the Emergency Nursing conference, attended Day on the Hill, served as a General Assembly delegate, president of Arkansas ENA and as a trustee for the ENA Foundation Board. Her goal: to continue developing future emergency nurse leaders by expanding mentorship, education and advocacy opportunities.
