Michael Gooch’s contributions to the specialty of emergency nursing are in the areas of education and leadership. He has made substantive contributions to the knowledge of emergency nurse practitioners through the development of peer- reviewed educational content, most specifically in pharmacology and toxicology. Gooch has authored multiple scholarly book chapters and peer-reviewed journal manuscripts focused on emergency nursing content. His educational initiatives also include more than 200 evidence-based emergency nursing presentations. He has served as a content expert and appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s emergency nurse practitioner portfolio certification process. His leadership influence is supported by his professional organization involvement. He served as a membership coordinator for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners and currently serves as a regional director for AAENP. Gooch is an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University and is an emergency and flight nurse practitioner at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
