Nursing Competency in Aging Award

Megan Lundquist, BSN, RN, CEN
This award recognizes a nurse who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the care of the older adult in the emergency care setting or the older adult in a community program.
As emergency department operations manager at Washington Regional Medical Center, Megan Lundquist has led her team to earn the Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Bronze designation by serving as a geriatric nurse champion and driving policy development, interdisciplinary collaboration, education and audits focused on geriatric care. Lundquist and her ED director presented on a panel at the Emergency Nursing 2023 to share innovations that helped their department to become the first and only ED in Arkansas to receive the ENA Lantern Award. Lundquist is recognized by peers for helping create and educate staff on a fall prevention resource kit and implemented other changes in rooms with geriatric patients in mind, such as installing large-display digital clocks, while also leading initiatives to decrease NPO time and CAUTI rates.
