Honors a nurse whose career achievements reflect dedicated service, accomplishments and/or contributions to emergency nursing that have value to emergency nursing beyond the recipient’s lifetime.
Known as “Mel” to many, she has been a demonstrated leader at all levels for almost four decades. Her activities have focused on promoting safe patient care through enhancing emergency nurses’ knowledge and skills. She has taught emergency nursing courses, organized educational presentations, chaired conferences and contributed to various ENA resources. Mel has been a powerful influence in advancing the status of emergency nursing at the local, state and national levels. Her demonstrated leadership ultimately earned her the position of 2004 ENA president. The multitude and value of Mel’s sustained accomplishments, her progressive leadership and her significant contributions show her longstanding commitment to ENA.
