Lifetime Achievement Award

Mary Leblond, MSN, RN, CEN, CA-SANE, SP-SANE, FAEN

Honors a nurse whose career achievements reflect dedicated service, accomplishments and/or contributions to emergency nursing that have value to emergency nursing beyond the recipient’s lifetime.

In more than 45 years as an emergency nurse, Mary Leblond has embraced numerous roles as not only an expert nurse for patients and mentor for other nurses, but as a leader and advocate. In recent years, her advocacy work contributed to a state law making assault against any emergency personnel a felony.

Leblond, an instructor with Emergency Medical Consultants Inc., has contributed substantial time and talent to ENA with a particular focus on government affairs and workplace violence prevention, as well as serving as a delegate to the ENA General Assembly since 1999. She is a TNCC and ENPC instructor.

Leblond’s activity at the state level and local chapter is extensive. She was Texas ENA Council president in 2015, chaired the council’s Government Affairs Committee, and served on its committees for nursing practice, pediatrics, trauma and scholarships. Leblond has also been president of the San Antonio ENA Chapter three times and held additional leadership and committee roles.

She is liaison to the San Antonio Nurses Consortium and the only emergency nurse currently serving on the Texas Center for Nursing Workplace Studies’ task force on Workplace Violence Against Nurses.
