Kory Scheideman, BSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, TCRN
Kory Scheideman’s significant and enduring contributions to emergency nursing are recognized in his efforts to reduce the stigma toward ED patients with a substance use disorder and raising awareness of these biases. He implemented a statewide program to distribute Narcan kits to 172 emergency departments. He also developed an alternative to opiates program in his own ED, which lead to him being a sought-after national expert as a Medication Assisted Treatment consultant to develop such programs across the United States. His leadership and advocacy have expanded beyond the state of Colorado, helping reduce the stigma of patients with SUD and improving outcomes for both patients and clinicians. Scheideman is the clinical nurse manager of the UCHealth Harmony Freestanding Emergency Department.
