Frank L. Cole Nurse Practitioner Award
The Frank L. Cole Nurse Practitioner Award recognizes excellence as a nurse practitioner in emergency care. The NP is recognized by nursing and physician colleagues, as well as patients, for clinical expertise and compassionate, competent care. The recipient is actively involved in promoting the role of NPs and strengthening the image of NPs in emergency care.

As co-chair of the 2023 ENA Conference Education Planning Committee, Hammond helped shape educational programming, advocated for APRN perspectives and supported the development of meaningful learning opportunities for emergency nurses. She is proud to have served on the Oregon Board of Pharmacy Public Health and Formulary Committee, contributing to collaborative efforts that helped ensure equitable vaccine access and strengthen public health initiatives for communities across Oregon.
Hammond is an associate professor of clinical nursing undergraduate and graduate programs at Oregon Health & Sciences University and has a desire to develop emergency nursing elective courses for both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. She has a goal of creating engaging learning experiences that expose students to emergency care early, strengthen clinical reasoning and inspire future nurses and APRNs to pursue careers in emergency nursing.
A member of ENA since 2010, Hammond is the 2026 Oregon Council ENA president-elect and a member of the Peer Review Education Committee. She served on the Conference Education Planning Committee from 2022 to 2024, serving as its co-chair in 2023.
