The Hartford HealthCare Emergency Department Nursing Professional Development team focuses on advancing clinical excellence and workforce development within ED nursing.

Its standardization of a core curriculum for ED nurses represents a significant achievement in advancing consistency, quality and safety across Hartford HealthCare’s system of hospitals across rural and urban communities. By aligning onboarding, competency validation and continuing education, the initiative ensures all ED nurses receive the same evidence-based training regardless of location. This reduces variation in practice, strengthens clinical confidence and improves patient outcomes. It also enhances workforce mobility within the system, supports regulatory readiness and creates a strong foundation for ongoing professional development and specialty certification.

The ED nursing professional development team supports onboarding, competency validation, continuing education and specialty training which includes TNCC, ENPC, trauma and critical care skills. Through collaboration with clinical leaders, the team members standardize best practices, improve patient outcomes and ensure regulatory readiness. The ED NPD team also mentors nurses, develops future leaders and drives evidence-based practice and quality initiatives across the system’s emergency departments.
