Nurse Manager Award
Longoria
Hannah Longoria, BSN, RN, CEN, Texas

Recognizes a nurse in an emergency nursing management role who has consistently demonstrated excellence in the profession of emergency nursing and has made significant contributions.

Hannah became a nurse in 2010. She was fortunate to start her career in the emergency department and has never looked back. In February 2021, the manager of her ED moved to another role, and she was asked to step in as interim manager. A month later, the director received an opportunity at another hospital in the system. These were trying times in the height of COVID-19. Hannah filled the role of interim manager until April 2022. Her proudest accomplishment was being able to retain most of the ED team throughout her 14 months in the role, despite the loss of the manager and director. Her team, who are like family to Hannah, are the main reason for staying in the role. Her goal was to provide as much stability as possible until new leadership was hired. At a time when other EDs were being mostly staffed with travelers, Hannah’s department only lost a handful of nurses and remain adequately staffed. Hannah’s true passion is education and as a result, in April 2022, she became the nurse educator for the same ED.
