Courtney Edwards’ career has always centered around trauma and injury prevention. She led her organization’s implementation of the CDC’s Stopping Elderly Accidents and Injuries, or STEADI, program and, as a result of her success, was acknowledged by the CDC for her guidance in preparing and organizing the contents of their national resource guide for adult falls prevention. She also worked with the hospitals in her system to develop an instructor training program for the Stay Active and Independent for Life program, resulting in the SAIL program being offered to multiple hospitals and her subsequent invitation to present at the Council of Aging. Finally, Edwards worked to create an organized response to a “positive” screening assessment, which has resulted in more than 7,500 interventions for individuals impacted by abuse, neglect and trafficking.
