Anna Mae Ericksen’s enduring and substantial contributions to the emergency nursing specialty are in the areas of leadership and practice. Anna Mae began her career in the Army Nurse Corps in 1943. In 1947, she returned to Spokane, Washington, where she worked for more than 40 years at Deaconess Hospital. She provided emergency nursing care across the lifespan, including soldiers and community members in Spokane. Her leadership activities expanded outreach to pre-hospital, rural communities and emergency departments across the nation.
