2026 President’s Award

The President’s Award is given at the discretion of the ENA president to an individual or group that has had a great impact on the ENA president’s career through inspiration, mentorship, teaching or support. This recipient has provided invaluable assistance during the president’s term, providing support to the president or ENA that is not covered by any other award.

Behind every leader is someone whose quiet dedication often goes unseen. For me, that person is Del Luis Nelms.

Del has been my constant source of love, encouragement and strength throughout this journey. Whether he’s helping me pack for another flight, making sure I’m dressed and ready for an event, calming the chaos that comes with a demanding travel schedule or simply reminding me to pause and breathe, he is there.

He has celebrated the victories, carried the weight of the difficult days and supported countless hours spent serving the Emergency Nurses Association and our specialties. He understands that leadership is not just the moments on stage—it is the preparation, the sacrifice and the commitment behind the scenes.

His unwavering belief in me has allowed me to give my best to others. He has made personal sacrifices without hesitation by offering patience, kindness and unconditional love every step of the way.

The Power of Us is not only reflected in the nursing profession – it is reflected in the people who stand beside us through every challenge and every success. Del embodies that spirit every day.

It is with immense gratitude, admiration and love that I present the 2026 ENA President’s Award to Del Luis Nelms, whose partnership, devotion and steadfast support have made this year possible.
