2026 Council Innovative Project Award
Gives state councils the opportunity to be recognized for innovative ideas and projects that support one of the pillars of ENA’s strategic plan.
Historically, the Connecticut ENA Council had limited direct engagement with nursing professional development specialists, who typically serve as a vital link between front-line emergency nurses and professional nursing organizations.
The council developed a statewide outreach effort by establishing direct communication with NPDS representatives from emergency departments across the state. This initiative expanded the council’s reach beyond traditional communication channels and fostered greater collaboration among emergency nursing professionals statewide. As a result, participation in council activities increased significantly, with higher attendance at events and broader representation from EDs throughout the state.
The initiative also sought to encourage NPDS participation in council planning efforts and professional development events while creating a two-way communication process that allowed NPDS representatives to share the educational and professional development needs of their emergency nursing teams. Efforts included an email distribution group and a dedicated text messaging group for council leaders to share opportunities directly with NPDS representatives throughout the state. This innovative approach transformed NPDS professionals from external stakeholders into active partners in advancing emergency nursing and created a sustainable framework for fostering professional growth, communication and engagement across Connecticut’s emergency nursing community.
