As the EMSC director for Maryland for 27 years and a pediatric nurse for 39, Cynthia Wright-Johnson’s work has focused on improving pediatric emergency care in EMS and EDs, both within hospitals and free standing. The NASEMSO liaison to the AAP COPEM since 2009, she has participated in the revision of “Pediatric Readiness in the ED” (2018) and writing of “Pediatric Readiness in EMS” (2019). Cyndy led 100% of Maryland hospitals to complete the National Pediatric Readiness Assessment in 2013 and 2016 while serving as the champion for two cohorts of 16 states. She and her Panda Team are the voices that say, “What about the children & families?” and then travel across the state providing education and toolkits to Maryland’s professional teams.
