Vanessa started her career in emergency nursing in 1996 in Melbourne, Australia. She then went onto complete post-graduate studies in emergency nursing, successfully completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing in 2000. Vanessa has a passion for leadership and management and in 2005, after completing a number of large-scale projects, Vanessa took on her first management position at one of the busiest emergency departments in her state of Victoria. Firstly, Vanessa took on an associate management position and coordinated care for up to 70,000 patients per annum. This role then progressed to nurse unit manager which led to further post-graduate qualifications, Post-Graduate Diploma in Health Services Management and a Masters in Specialty Nursing. In 2017 Vanessa was awarded Australasian Emergency Nurse of the Year at the International College of Emergency Nurses conference in Sydney, Australia. In 2018 Vanessa published her first paper in the Journal of Emergency Nursing.
